Vessel Description

KESTREL is fully commissioned and in the water ready to go for the season and easy to see on a mooring at Hinckley Yacht Services in Southwest Harbor, Maine.

 

CONSTRUCTION:

Hull:

• Solid fiberglass construction with increased thickness and reinforcement at higher stress areas.
• Forward spray rail painted to match hull
• Quarterguard aft painted to match hull with stainless steel chafe strip
• Skeg provides good tracking and extends to support base of rudder and protects prop
• Varnished teak rubrail at sheer with stainless steel chafe strip
• Stainless steel rudder and post
• Flag Blue Awlgripped topsides
• Single White Awlgripped boot stripe
• Red bottom paint

 

Deck:

• Fiberglass composite with balsa core to reduce weight and increase stiffness
• White gelcoat decks with light tan painted non-skid
• Varnished teak toe rail and handrails on pilothouse roof and cabin top
• Varnished teak bowsprit with windlass and stainless steel bow roller for anchor
• Deck access for secondary anchor rode
• Stainless steel bow chocks with single stainless steel Sampson’s post on centerline
• Stainless steel Herreshoff style mid ship and stern cleats with stainless chafe strip on toe rail and across transom with an additional cleat midships on the transom
• Large Bomar painted opening deck hatch on truck cabin over berth

COCKPIT:

The large open cockpit provides plenty of space for friends and family and gear with flexibility in how it’s used.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

KESTREL has a traditional open layout below with a galley to port and a large enclosed head opposite to starboard (with separate shower stall) and a large v-berth forward with ample storage in drawers and hanging lockers as well in lockers under the berth.  The interior is finished in a Herreshoff style with white bulkheads and overhead and varnished mahogany trim with contrasting ash hull ceiling, resulting in a warm, light feel below
